There’s a product for everything and everyone these days, and if there isn’t, it’s probably on the way. Now even the stress and emotional frustration that many experience while going through a divorce is subject to a feel-good remedy. If you’re in Michigan or any other state you don’t have to suffer alone during or after your divorce: you can hire a service, order a product or join a program that is designed to heal your bitter feelings and get you back on the right track.

And, this is not tongue-in-cheek. There are already billions in revenue collectively flowing into the coffers of those who sell these remedies and supportive programs. It makes sense that in an age of runaway technology, physical exercise plans of every kind and the supremacy of positive-thinking practices, that even something as somber as divorce should be lightened up a bit.

We know that divorce represents the most difficult life-change imaginable for many people. One who is feeling the pressure can now turn to companies with names like Divorce Detox or enter programs like ‘Start Over Smart’. In Divorce Detox, for example, you get lessons on how to feel better and beat the divorce blues. There are also divorce coaches, divorce planners and divorce toolkits.

The Start Over Smart program is a two-day expo where you can learn about available help. There’s advice for careers, dating and child-rearing. However, there are some 850,000 to 950,000 divorces each year, which makes it unlikely that each case can be treated by a generic product or service. A family institute representative at Northwestern University endorsed the new programs as being beneficial, but stressed that each divorce is different and that a licensed therapist is still a recommended remedy.

In the meantime, if you’re a Michigan resident facing divorce, it’s usually best to do first steps first. You’ll possibly feel more grounded and secure by getting a preliminary consultation with a family law professional, who can fully inform you and answer your questions. There’s a definite self-enhancing effect from simply having all of the information at your disposal, and amazingly, sometimes the ordeal turns out to be not as fraught with danger as at first anticipated.
